Why Do Boxing Fitness, In Sykesville, MD?

There are all types of workouts out there now a days.  There are a lot of trendy ones like Zumba and Pilates but the one that has stood the test of time is Boxing fitness. There are quite a few reasons why you might want to try a boxing fitness class and here they are.

Boxing Fitness is one of the best all around full body workouts around.  According to factsof health.com “a boxer’s training session will work nearly every muscle in the body, it focuses on the muscles of the upper arms, core, chest, hips and calves”.  Most people don’t realize that in boxing you work your legs and core as much if not more than your upper body.

A lot of people go mainly for weight loss so burning calories is important.  According to factsofhealth.com “a boxer will burn between 420 and 650 calories in a 60-minute boxing workout,”   If you want to get the best bank for your buck go with a boxing fitness class.

Right now Shaddock MMA Fitness is offering a chance to try a FREE 30 minute session to  learn how to use the boxing equipment before you do class.  All you have to do is go to shaddockmma.com and fill out the contact form to set up your first FREE 30 minute session.  I hope to hear from you soon.

Is Mayweather’s “0” About To Go?

Many say Conor McGregor’s chances are small.  Some, like Max Kellerman,  say Conor won’t even land a punch, but history says the chance is quite real.  When we examine the great champions coming back they have lost to what I consider less formidable opponents than the Notorious one.  Remember Floyd is 40+ and he is close to 3 years removed from competition.  I think he is ready for his “0” to go.

I remember ‘The Greatest” losing to a much unheralded Trevor Berbick, a fighter who couldn’t even carry Ali’s jock but age caught up with even the Greatest.  How about Sugar Ray Leonard.  Sugar Ray did have some successful comebacks but his final fight to be TKO’d by Macho Camacho, who Ray would have destroyed in his prime, was a disgrace. The most interesting of the comebacks is one of the best fighters I have seen, Roy Jones Jr.  Unfortunately Roy is still fighting today,  KO losses to Danny Green and Dennis Lebedev were unnecessary.  It all comes down to money.  Does Floyd really want to come back or does he need the money?

Even if you think Conor doesn’t have a chance do know that history is on his side.  When fighters comeback not for the love of the game but financial reasons it usually ends badly.  I know I am probably in the minority but I do believe that Money Mayweather is prime for a loss and Conor is the wrong fighter for him.  A lot of folks say they will not be watching August 26th but I will be watching.   You heard it here first.

Is Fear Stopping You From Reaching Your Goals In Sykesville, MD

Fear,  we’ve all experienced it, especially when it comes to joining a fitness or martial arts center.  We call it procrastination, but it’s really just fear.   Some are fear of looking stupid (don’t know how to use the equipment).  There is fear of looking like a Klutz.  There is what is termed physique anxiety( afraid you’ll look too fat, too skinny or otherwise).  There is also fear of the high pressure sale.  With a lot of gyms and martial arts studios these fears are justified but not at my gym.

At Shaddock MMA Fitness I have decided to give every NEW member a FREE 30 minute session with me in which I explain how to use all the equipment in class.  As far as the physique anxiety goes I encourage anyone to come to one of my classes. and just watch.  We have people of all shapes and sizes, ages and walks of life.  For the final fear, high pressure sales, I do all sales and service.  I don’t believe in high pressure sales.  You will not be pressured.

I have a pretty lofty goal myself.  My goal is to get Carroll County Fit, one person at a time.  This April we will be celebrating my 10th anniversary in business.  This is do to a great and understanding wife and kids, as well as loyal membership base.  I want to invite you in to experience my gym and become part of the Shaddock MMA Fitness family. Go to shaddockmma.com and fill out the contact form. I will contact you for your FREE, no obligation, 30 minute training session.

Can McGregor Do The Impossible?

Throughout history athletes have always done what they say could not.   Joe Namath and his famous “Deal with the devil” promised the Jets would be victorious over the unbeatable Colts and they were.  In the 2000 Olympics Rulan Gardner stopped a 10 year winning streak when he beat Alexander Kerelin for olympic gold.  1980 saw team USA do the Miracle on Ice as they beat the formidable Russian hockey team.  Did we forget after only 8 fights, Leon Spinks beat the Greatest of all time in Muhammad Ali ,but probably the biggest upset of my generation was when a 40-1 underdog in James “Buster” Douglas defeated the unbeatable Mike Tyson.

Take into effect that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is 41 and McGregor is in the prime of his career at 29.  McGregor is taller, has a bigger reach and walking around  about 170 pounds is just a bigger man.  He throws punches from weird angles and with precision.  Mayweather has trouble with southpaws, oh did I mention Conor was a southpaw.  Most importantly is the mental factor.  Is Conor McGregor going to get into Floyd’s head?

This is a paragraph written by Bas Rutten on his thoughts on the fight. “I know if Conor could beat Floyd it will be the greatest upset in sports history, and that’s what I’m hoping for. If you break everything down, let’s start with the trash talking. He’s going to get into Mayweather’s head. Then with Mayweather, he’s going to have way too much pressure on him. I say it’s almost like fighting a girl. Mayweather can not lose this. If he does, he loses to a guy who’s had his first professional boxing match. If he wins, well, he was supposed to beat the guy. Floyd wants the 50-0, and everyone he’s meeting, they’re going to tell him how easy a fight this is going to be. Every fighter knows this, the more people tell you how easy it’s going to be, the more pressure you’re going to get, because now you better do what they say.

So I know my boxing friends are going to give me hell for this article.  I have always been one to bet with my heart and not my head, but I think the kid has a shot.  I am not a Mayweather fan so on August 26th I will be pulling for the Irishman.

What Has Stopped You From Joining A Fitness Center In Sykesville, MD

I worked for other health clubs for close to 20 years and have owned my own martial arts and fitness center for close to 10 years.  Over the years I have noticed there are many reasons why people don’t join a fitness center or health club.  Hopefully I can help you make a good decision and get you on the road to a fitness lifestyle. The following are the biggest reasons people don’t join.

#1 Procrastination– Let’s face it we’ve all done it.  In fact you may be doing it now.  Working out is just what it says, work, but in the right case can be kinda fun. Take your time to find the right place but when you do, get started and get yourself fit.

#2 Commitment– Commitment is a big one.  Most people fear to commit to anything, especially something that requires working out on a regular basis. Most health club and fitness centers require at least a one year commitment, sometimes more.  Make sure the place you are looking at has short term options.

#3 Competition– I know a lot of people who want to check out the competition.  They will literally go on free passes at every gym in town.  That is your right and it’s a great idea, unless you never join.  Write down your criteria for your gym and weight you options.  Make the decision that’s best for you. Make sure you are comfortable with the members and the instructor.

#4 Spouse– “I want to talk to my spouse”, this is usually what people say  when pressured to get out of the office.  If this is the real reason, find a place that is a good place to workout for you and your spouse.

#5 Price– Well price is kind of tricky.  Unfortunately in this economy it is the first thing people look at.  The real big gyms can offer extremely low prices because they bank on the fact that you are not going to use their gym so they can get more people that are going to use the gym.  These gyms are selling space and not service.  Make sure the people are attentive to you when you come in. So more so than price what kind of value is the gym giving you?

OK here comes my SHAMELESS PLUG.  I want to offer you a chance to come into my gym and test out all of the reasons I spoke of and hopefully get you as a new member. Just go to shaddockmma.com, then go to the contact section and fill out the contact form.  I will give you the option to try a class or better yet get a one on one session with me for free.

So if you want great service, a place you can take your wife to, a gym you will be comfortable with, with short term commitment, and at an affordable price, come see me.
