If you are looking for a boxing fitness class nowadays you can find one in most gyms. There have even been some boxing fitness gyms opening up. All are good workouts in their own right, but do they actually teach the art of boxing? The truth of the matter is most of the gyms hire aerobic instructors to teach boxing like movements to do to aerobic dance music. But they don’t actually teach boxing. Shaddock MMA Fitness is something different.
Coach Shaddock has been involved in boxing for over 30 years. A USA Boxing Certified coach John’s class teaches the basics of boxing from soup to nuts. You will learn footwork, basic punches, defense and how to hit the various bags that hang at the gym. So you will not only get a fantastic workout but you will also learn how to defend yourself through the art of boxing.
The best thing about any of the classes is they are for all ages, all fitness levels, and is good for beginners and advanced students alike. There is something for everyone in the family. Before you sign up at any of the other gyms, come try the best first, Shaddock MMA Fitness. To make sure you feel comfortable taking the class I am offering a FREE one on one training session and orientation on the equipment. Just go to shaddockmma.com and fill out the contact form and I will contact you to set up your FREE training session. I hope to see you in the gym.
Probably the biggest reason for success at Shaddock MMA Fitness is variety. One of the main reasons people quit a fitness program is boredom. As of late a new crop of boxing fitness gyms are popping up. So when you are comparing, you will notice a big difference between Shaddock MMA Fitness and the other guys.
When I talk about variety the first thing is the bags. Coach Shaddock has taken his favorite bags and put all types of different heavy bags, speed bags and double end bags so that you won’t be bored with your workouts. In his IronBox class John adds multiple pieces of fitness equipment to the circuit. Much like changing the pins on a golf course, Shaddock changes the order of the exercises to make the circuit a different workout every single time.
Probably the most important variety is in the people that workout at the gym. It’s not your average gym. My customers come in all shapes and sizes, all ages. The beauty of the classes is that a competitive boxer and a brand new student can take the same class and get the same great workout.
Remember when your workout gets boring you won’t see the results you want. It also makes it easier to show up. So if you want the best results come to Shaddock MMA Fitness. We’ve been in business for 10 years for a reason. Go to shaddockmma.com and fill out the contact form. You will get a FREE 30 minute session with coach Shaddock to try the gym out.
By now a lot of my social media friends who are Mayweather fans think I am nuts. I have been analyzing this fight for quite some time. Some may ask what my experience is. I had fought competitively for 8 years was a two time finalist in the Vermont Golden Gloves and was the 1989 New England Diamond Belt Boxing Champion. As a mixed martial artist I competed in the Teams Fighting Championships in Latvia ( 5 on 5 fighting).
Many will argue with boxing only rules it does seem like a mismatch, and if Floyd does what Floyd usually does in calling all of the shots it may be. But if Conor and his team can work the negotiations this could be an extremely competitive fight and here’s how.
Glove Size– Welter weights (147 pounds) can fight with 8 ounce gloves. Anything above Welter weight is 10 ounce gloves. If they fight at Welter advantage McGregor.
Glove Type– The Reyes gloves are made with horse hair. They are known as the “punchers glove”. If McGregor is allowed this type of glove advantage McGregor.
Size of ring– I do believe that the smaller the ring the bigger advantage for Conor, but he does fight in Octagon which is bigger than a ring. But a smaller ring will help McGregor be able to get to Mayweather more often.
This is probably the biggest factor. Who the referee is will make a huge difference. Floyd picks the referee, Conor will not be able to get rough in close situations. He needs a referee that will be let them fight on the inside.
Other factors are the size difference. Conor is taller, has a reach advantage and by fight time will be the much heavier man. If the negotiations are worked correctly this could be a very interesting fight.
Keep your hands up,

My boxing workshop will be starting this Saturday April 1st at 4 pm. The purpose of this workshop is to teach beginners to be able to spar. Although this is the objective of most coming to this event, I assure you it will not just be people flailing at each other.
They way my brothers and I learned was sink or swim. We were thrown in the ring on day one, and learned to box the hard way. I don’t agree with this type of teaching. What I have done is picked 6 elements of boxing that will enhance your skills and make you better at all aspects of boxing. Each session is going to focus on a different component of the sweet science.
Advanced Shadow Boxing And Footwork
Advanced Punching Bag Drills
Combination Punching And Using Them On The Bags
Counter Punching And Reaction Punching
Controlled Technical Sparring
The goal of the workshop is to give people who are novices in boxing a better understanding of what it takes to spar and how to get the best out of your Fitboxing Workouts. I hope to see you all there.
